We had spoken about the frame rate characteristic of video recording, and how it affects the video quality on episode 6 of the TRUEcast HERE. To really bring this into perspective for the average person, I decided to show a comparison of videos with different frame rates so that one can appreciate the true impact of frame rate on the quality of the video recordings.
To achieve the comparison I used the T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 for the device, and recorded in the same area with the same lighting, recording environment & resolution of 240×320. The only variables in the settings are the light metering, color, focus & frame rate. The frame rate is the only of these variables that has an effect on the choppiness of the video, so for all intensive purposes the other variables can be ignored, so click the links to see for yourself:

Hopefully this helps folks understand how frame rate affects video recording quality by increasing it when the rate is higher. In this comparison the Qik recording software has a lower frame rate than the T-Mo TP2 software, hence the reason for the choppy Qik video. The low frame rate in the Qik recording software is probably due to the fact that for streaming and Internet sharing purposes a smaller file size is more desirable.
This recording setting, and its effect on the quality of the recording is true for all, and any, video recording equipment from convergence devices, to web cams, to dedicated video recording devices. Therefore keeping this feature in mind when purchasing will help ensure that your making a purchase which will more likely fit your needs. To find out more about frame rates you can click HERE

I just thought I’d let you know that it’s actually- “for all INTENTS AND PURPOSES”, not “all INTENSIVE purposes”. Sorry, that’s just one of those phrases that people get wrong that really gets on my nerves, but thanks for the otherwise very informative article.
